School Reception Design and Refurbishment

CID Study.Space were approached by Chawton Hill Surveyors to undertake the refurbishment of Shrewsbury House School’s Reception.

The project was undertaken during the Easter Holidays and included new Amtico flooring, a bespoke reception desk and redecoration of the whole space.

The Design

Our client required a new doorway to be cut through from behind their school reception desk into the office behind. The new doorway opened up the space and made the area much more functional. We came up with a bespoke compass style design as a centrepiece in the Amtico flooring. The desk was another bespoke item which we had manufactured from Frem. The desk is equiped with lighting and power.

Time Frame

For a complete refurbishment, which included structural work to the new door way, we had very tight time constraints. Ensuring the bespoke elements such as the luxury vinyl flooring cut outs and school reception desk, were ready for installation at the correct time was a challenge. We had to manage the various trades involved to make sure the school reception was ready for handover when the students came back to school for the summer term.

Finished Project

The finished school reception is a bright and welcoming space. The new door and window behind the desk lets staff move between the office and reception easily. The Amtico flooring is easy to clean and water resistant making it a great choice for a busy school reception area. Soft seating, notice boards and plants helps create a warm welcome to the school.
