Classrooms

Students and colleagues spend more time in classrooms than any other area of the school.
It is important, therefore, that these rooms feel well maintained, safe and inspiring. Reconfiguring furniture layout, decorating, updating flooring and lighting all contribute to transforming a tired classroom into somewhere you would want to teach and learn in.

Space Planning

Ideally the best place to start when rethinking and designing a classroom is to survey the existing space and using our CAD software, space plan to make optimum use of the area.
CID Study. Space can provide a variety of options and layouts for you to consider and see which will work best for the subject and age range being taught.

Technology

Educationalists are well aware of the rapid rate that teaching changes.
The use of technology in the classroom is constantly evolving and improving and your school, nursery or university will be striving to be up-to-date. Use of tablets in classrooms has increased phenomenally in recent years. This has resulted in necessary updates such as increasing the number of charging points and safe and secure storage requirements. Interractive whiteboards can be found in most classrooms these days but sometimes practical considerations can prohibit their use such as positioning, trailing wires and visibility where sunlight shines directly onto the board. Getting the most out of your school’s technology often involves adaptations to the room itself which CID Study.space can help you with.

Heat, Light and Sound

Getting the best out of your colleagues and students means giving them comfortable surroundings and working conditions. You will be regularly auditing the conditions within your classrooms to ensure that they comply with regulations. Heating should ensure that the room temperature is maintained, blinds should be installed to protect from glare and heat from the sun and windows and doors should allow for natural ventilation to occur. The room should have acoustic qualities to minimise noise disruption and maximise clear communication. It is likely that on your premesis you have a room that doesn’t meet all these requirements. We are on hand to help you address any issues and deliver happy and healthy rooms in which to teach and learn.

Flexibility of Design

Classroom space has to adapt and flexibility of design is crucial. We know that your classroom space is valuable and needs to serve different purposes throughout the school day. The benefit of a flexible learning environment is that the space can adapt and optimize learning for different children with different learning styles. Storage systems mean you can pack away resources from previous lessons easily and transition onto a new lesson in a clear, clutter free way. Easy to change bulletin boards that can be regularly updated can aid the teaching and keep the material relevant. Furniture that can be easily moved, stacked and serve different purposes allows as much freedom as possible to plan dynamic lessons where all learning styles are accommodated.

At Cid Study. Space we are always aware of the environmental impact of our choices and we are sure you are too.
