Staff Lounge Refubishment

Staff Lounge | Surrey

CID Studyspace recently completed a comprehensive refurbishment of a staff lounge to create a more comfortable, functional, and visually appealing environment. The project aimed to blend practical amenities with a warm, welcoming aesthetic, ensuring staff have an inviting space to relax and recharge.

The Design

To enhance the lounge’s layout, we installed new timber wall balustrades per design specifications, giving the space a unique, rustic touch while maintaining durability. Additionally, we supplied and installed Ash double doors featuring toughened glass side-lights and modern ironmongery, bringing in natural light and improving the room’s openness. New Ash timber shelving units with drawers were also fitted, along with additional shelving by the dartboard for functional, easy-to-reach storage.

Flooring and Decoration

Flooring and surface finishes were prioritized for both aesthetics and ease of maintenance. Burmatex carpet tiles were laid over 72 square meters, bringing comfort underfoot and adding acoustic dampening. Altro Wood vinyl flooring was chosen for high-traffic areas, ensuring longevity. For the walls, we applied two coats of Dulux vinyl matt emulsion and clad the dartboard wall with cork, creating a practical space for games and decor.

Kitchen and Washroom Upgrades

The project included a brand-new Howdens kitchen installation complete with Lamona appliances, including an integrated dishwasher, tall fridge/freezer, electric oven, and hob. Quartzstone melamine worktops and Topps Artisau tiles were selected for durability and a refined look, while brushed thin “D” handles added modernity. In the washroom, we installed a new toilet, basin, and other fixtures, adding a mirror, towel rail, and LED lighting for a fresh, updated feel.

Electrical and Lighting Improvements

The electrical works were essential for functionality and ambiance. We installed multiple recessed LED spotlights, including dimmable and directional options, for optimal lighting control. Additional sockets, USB ports, and a cooker point were added to support various appliances and devices. Emergency lighting, external light fittings, and a heat detector were also fitted for safety compliance.
