Michael Sobell | Nursery Refurbishment

Harrow

CID were contracted to carry out the Nursery Refurbishment of this Harrow based Primary School. The space was octagonal in shape with a high vaulted ceiling and we immediately saw the design potential. We installed new lighting throughout making the space light and airy and more suitable as a learning environment. Colours were used to denote different spaces which the teaching staff are now able to make use of for various activities. The hanging ceiling clouds finish the design off and make this a really fun, vibrant place for children to learn in.

As is often the case with school nursery refurbishment projects the work was started at short notice and completed within the summer holidays. The teachers and governors were delighted with the transformation.

The work included New Flotex and vinyl flooring in a geometric pattern and rainbow colours, a mixture of suspended and recessed lighting controlled by dimmer switches to provide suitable lighting depending on the task being carried out and a new kitchen area complete with oven to meet the new standards of the National Curriculum which require young children to be taught cooking skills.
