Sports Centre Refurbishment

Royal Holloway Sports Centre | Egham

CID were contracted to completely refurbish the changing facilities, locker room and toilets at Royal Holloway Sports Centre in Egham.

The inspiration for the design was to emulate the look and feel of a Health Club however, the design had to be within an educational budget. We provided the University and the main contractor Quinn London, with a variety of designs during the initial process. We created rendered visuals, samples, and CAD floor plans and elevations for how to meet their requirements within a fairly tricky space. Our client wanted to avoid expensive structural work which led a lot of our design decisions.

The Locker Room

With the Health Club design brief in mind we transformed the dated locker rooms into sleek and modern looking spaces. We used a variety of wood effect veneers on the IPS locker doors the doors add interest and texture. The new locker design also provide a system where the end users would be able to identify their locker more readily. The new benches were also a bespoke design with practical marine quality IPS panelling to endure the wear and tear of students use.

The Toilet Cubicles

We refurbished the male and female toilet blocks. We used the same range of Polyrey panelling as used in the Locker Room we kept the design neutral. Duct panels were fitted on the new vanity units which were made to measure and behind the urinals. CID supplied warm toned subway tiles were installed on the splashbacks and Dolphin soap dispensers were fitted. A similar neutral tone of Vinyl flooring was installed. For practicality the vinyl flooring was coved and capped.

Refreshing the hygienic walls

New lighting was installed throughout the project and the space. LED lights were fitted into the new suspended ceilings and the emergency lighting was brought up to standard. We also fitted new hand driers in the toilet blocks . We installed variety salon quality hair driers in the changing rooms.
